APRA History

The Alberta Provincial Rifle Association ("A.P.R.A.") consists of 400+ members and several shooting groups/clubs. We have nothing to do with the government. We are shooters like you.

The A.P.R.A. provides the facility and each club has representation on the A.P.R.A. executive. Join the club of your choice and the A.P.R.A. dues will be forwarded to the A.P.R.A. from the applicable clubs at the next A.P.R.A. meeting.

The A.P.R.A.'s responsibilities are to pay all insurance, taxes, maintenance and capital projects and provide the range insurance for each member of the association. All shooters using A.P.R.A. facilities must be members of the association to be covered by insurance.

The objectives of the group are:

  1. *To promote in every lawful way the interests of small arms marksmanship in the Province of Alberta.
  2. *Without restricting the generality of the foregoing:

    a) To promote annual prize meetings for individuals and teams and to offer prizes for skill in shooting.

    b) To encourage the establishment and maintenance of suitable ranges through legislation and private means.

    c) To assist in the formation of shooting clubs.

    d) To create public interest for the encouragement of small arms shooting both as a sport and as a necessary means of national defense.
